Humanities on the Edge Lecture

Bridget R. Cooks, PhD, associate professor of African American studies and art history at the University of California, Irvine, will present “Black Artists and Activism: Harlem on My Mind, 1969.”

Presented in collaboration with the HotE lecture series.

Dr. Cooks is also guest curator for one of the six gallery installations in Re-Seeing the Permanent Collection: The Long 1968. Her project, Revising the Future, features twelve artworks created within the mid-twentieth-century context of the modern civil rights movement that express feelings of dislocation, curiosity, uncertainty, and hope.
