Sheldon Forum
The Sheldon Forum, a special-interest group of the Sheldon Art Association, was organized in 1987 to support acquisitions for the Sheldon permanent collection.
Among the various Sheldon Forum activities is an annual travel seminar. In the past members have visited New York, Los Angeles, St. Louis, Kansas City, Santa Fe and Minneapolis. Each travel seminar includes visits to private collections, artist studios, curator-led museum tours and meetings with commercial gallery dealers.
Other Sheldon Forum events include sponsoring a public lecture by a museum professional and visiting local artist studios and private collections. The summer event is the Art Acquisition Dinner to select artwork for the Sheldon collection to be purchased from Sheldon Forum funds.
Sheldon Forum membership is from July to June and costs $300 per person. Part of the membership fee, $225, is tax-deductible. Members must also join the SAA.
