Portraits and Personalities: Prints from the F. M. Hall Collection

Date(s):  December 5, 2008 thru March 1, 2009

Alison Stewart, a professor of art history at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, has chosen prints from the Sheldon Museum of Art's permanent collection to augment her 2009 course on the History of Prints.

Portraits and Personalities: Prints from the F. M. Hall Collection will include approximately 20 works with a focus on the human figure. Students in the course will be introduced to the earliest European prints and printmaking techniques dating from the 15th century to the present. Stewart will give an informal gallery talk about her selections on Sunday, February 15 at 2 p.m., in Sheldon's Ethel S. Abbott Auditorium.

The exhibited prints will complement the prints discussed in class, and students will compare them with prints on which they conduct research.

Students will have the opportunity to study original prints in the Sheldon’s collection and research areas of their specific interest.

Location: Sheldon
