
Sheldon Museum of Art and Nebraska Arts Council Help Teachers Integrate Art Into ClassesWe invite Nebraska art teachers to attend an adventurous, educational, fun-filled workshop funded by the Nebraska Arts Council. The workshops train teachers on how to integrate arts into the classroom. The workshops offer instruction and materials that support the National Standards for Arts Education. Each workshop coincides with the Sheldon Statewide exhibition From Particles to Planets and will culminate with a trip to view the exhibition.

- Receive free educational packets with an instructional CD and lesson plans.
- Enjoy a stimulating day with artists, language arts specialists and fellow teachers.
- View original art in the Sheldon Statewide From Particles to Planets exhibition.

The 2008-2009 workshops will be held:
- Friday, October 3, 2008 at McKinley Center, North Platte, NE
- Friday, February 13, 2009 at Columbus Art Gallery, Columbus, NE
- Friday, March 13, 2009 at Morton James Public Library, Nebraska City, NE
- Friday, April 17, 2009 at Grand Island Public Library, Grand Island, NE
The workshops, scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., are FREE. To register for a workshop, submit name, school, discipline, grade level and contact information including e-mail address to lsipple2@unl.edu. Registration information may also be faxed to (402) 472-4258 or mailed to Sheldon Museum of Art, 12th & R Streets, Lincoln, NE 68588-0300. The first 20 registrants for each workshop will receive reimbursement for a substitute teacher. This is a first-come, first-serve offer, so don't delay. Teachers must make arrangements for the substitute and reimbursement will be paid after the workshop. Early registrants may request that a Nebraska Arts Council Teaching Artist visit their schools. She will lead students in enjoyable art and language arts presentations. Applications to bus classes to the Sheldon Statewide exhibition will also be available at the workshops.
