Facility Use & Cost Information
Reservations for use of Sheldon Museum of Art facilities may be made through the Facilities Coordinator, Lindsey Sullivan at 472-1186 or ldoser1@unl.edu. Sheldon spaces have been used for many events, including receptions, dinners, lectures, concerts, meetings and conferences.
With the rental of any interior space, attendees are invited to view the exhibitions in the open galleries. Sheldon staff-led tours of the exhibitions for attendees at your event are available upon request. Food and drinks are not permitted in the galleries and visitors must follow normal museum rules when viewing the artwork.
Who may rent Sheldon facilities:
- For-profit organizations and private individuals who are current members or donors at the $5,000 level may use the facility once during their giving year.
- UNL departments and student organizations
- Non-profit organizations, which are not connected with UNL
Basic guidelines for Sheldon rentals
- The rental use must be consistent with the role and mission of the Sheldon. The Gallery reserves the right to deny any request for use of its facilities.
- Political, fundraising or religious events are not permitted.
- Events may not impair public access during normal open hours, including setup and cleanup.

The sponsoring organization must designate a responsible contact person. The responsible person's signature on reservation form indicates he or she has read the facilities usage guidelines and will assure that they are complied with. All reservation requests must be reviewed and approved by appropriate Sheldon staff members. The reservation is confirmed only when a copy of the Facilities Use Request Form showing estimated fees is returned to the contact person of the sponsoring organization. A deposit for an approved event may be required.
If you wish to serve alcohol
If the sponsoring organization wishes to serve alcohol at its event, the responsible contact person must complete and forward the University Alcohol Service Request to the Facilities Coordinator six weeks before the event. The alcohol provider must be from the University's Approved Licensed Beverage Caterer List.
